  1. Laser welding produces absolutely no black smoke at all. Currently, the entire industry is unable to achieve this. Laser welding and laser cutting are the same. Because there is black smoke, laser cutting machines are equipped with smoke-discharging devices.
  2. Compared with traditional post-welding processes such as gas shielded welding and arc welding, laser welding has its unique advantages. From the perspective of smoke emissions, the smoke produced by gas shielded welding is much larger than that of laser welding. This is because arc welding is a slow process and generates smoke, but it is not very noticeable visually. Moreover, since the arc light of laser welding is small, the smoke is more clearly visible to the naked eye. As laser welding is a new technology product that has only been introduced in the past two years, people have higher expectations for it. This is quite normal psychologically.
  3. Currently, there are two types of black smoke produced by laser welding. One is that there is a significant accumulation of black residue on the workpiece. The other is that it appears in the air. At present, we can prevent the formation of obvious black smoke accumulations, but there will still be some in the air.

A. The amount of welding fumes is closely related to the type of welding material. The size of the fumes varies depending on the material used for welding. We have previously conducted welding experiments on aluminum alloys, and the size of the fumes differed significantly for different types of aluminum alloy welding materials.
B. If the surface of the workpiece is protected by an oil film or an oxide layer, then the welding smoke will be larger.
C. The black smoke is related to the welding wire. Since the current welding wires used are all for traditional welding, there are no specialized welding wires specifically designed for the laser industry. Therefore, it is difficult to control in the laser industry. It is recommended to use the existing smoke-free welding wires.
D. The amount of welding fume is related to the welding process. For instance, factors such as welding speed and technique all play a role. For example, when welding aluminum at low power, there might be less fume compared to when using high power.
E: Damage to the lens usually leads to poor welding results.
